Active For Me
Bike or Walk to School Program
The Active4.me scanning system captures every trip and can instantly
notify a parent by text, email or phone that their student arrived on
campus. The system generates real-time statistics including CO2,
calories, miles and gas savings for each student, their classroom, grade
or for the whole district. Scan days can be any interval, from once a
month to every day.Find out more or volunteer by contacting Christal
Waters at email@example.com.
"Car Free” October Events:
October 1 is the start of a citywide elementary school walk/bike/carpool challenge. Please help Willett win this exciting contest by getting signed up now - https://willett.active4.me. Return your signed permission slip to an Active4Me volunteer at the bike racks or drop it by the PTA box in the Willett office. If your child lost the barcode tag, it can be replaced at the bike racks. The contest runs through the entire month of October.
Wednesday, October 7 is International Walk & Bike to School Day – Join the movement to be active and bike or walk to school
October is when we typically hold our Willett Bike Rodeo. Watch for the date and permission slip. Join us after school to learn how to bike safely on our streets. Volunteers will be doing helmet and bike maintenance checks. Please return the permission slip to the PTA box at the Willett office or bring with you to the event.
An Evening of Family Favorites and Fun
This is a PTA-sponsored, library program that encourages families to read together.
This program is held during the late winter or early spring. Families register and set reading goals for each member. A reading time record is kept and later turned into the library. The program culminates in an evening of entertainment at school followed by dessert.
Willett Community Bookclub
Book Club is for 4th - 6th graders and their adult. If you are interested in joining, fill out the permission slip and return to the Willett Library. We meet once a month, typically on the fourth Tuesday at 6:45 pm in the Willett Library. Meeting dates and book selections are communicated via a group email. Many of the book selections contain content appropriate for junior high school age children so the program assumes that both adult and child will read the book. Permission slips are available in the Willett office or in the Library. Any questions? Please contact Chris Fluetsch for more information.
